Chartered insurance broker Konsileo has added human resources expert Geoff Lloyd (pictured) to its board.

Appointed as a non-executive director (NED), Lloyd brings more than three decades of HR leadership experience to Konsileo, which was “set up as a workplace of the future,” according to the commercial brokerage.

“Our aim has always been to have the happiest, best-rewarded, and most professional brokers in the business – because we believe putting them at the heart of our operation is what creates the most value for our clients,” co-founder and chief executive John Warburton said in a release.

“Geoff has incredible experience in creating teams, building culture, and investing in people at scale – and that’s exactly what we need to help us maintain what’s so special about how we work, what we do, and who we are as we continue to grow.”

Judy Welch, investment director at Konsileo’s lead investor Committed Capital, added that they’re looking forward to harnessing Lloyd’s expertise for the future of Konsileo.

New NED’s credentials

Lloyd, who also has years of experience in non-executive director roles, previously worked at the likes of Nortel, Airbus, Serco, and Meggitt.

“I’ve spent over 35 years in HR and 16 years running large HR functions and shaping corporate cultures, and I remain utterly committed to the idea that your people are your greatest asset,” the former chair of voluntary movement Engage for Success declared. “Konsileo absolutely embodies that.

“I know how challenging it is to preserve your culture through a big growth cycle, and I think my professional knowledge and experience can assist Konsileo as it continues to expand.”

Next stage for Konsileo

Described as “rooted in the modern working ideals of evolutionary purpose, self-management, and wholeness,” Konsileo is manned by more than 100 people in 12 hubs in the UK. The business, which came to life in 2017, now places over £50 million in gross written premium on behalf of clients on a run-rate basis.

“I was attracted to Konsileo as a genuine market disruptor, which is always exciting,” Lloyd noted. “They look at commercial insurance in a completely different way, with an emphasis on creating a fantastic workplace through a strong employee value proposition and a strong culture.

“I’m looking forward to learning more about the business, meeting more of the wonderful people that make Konsileo such a special place – and helping them take the organisation to the next level.”

In July 2022, Konsileo completed a £4.7 million Series A funding round.
