NARDAC, a California-based specialist energy and infrastructure insurance broker, is expanding into Europe by opening a new office in London.

The office will be led by Peter Draper (pictured), former international property director at AFL, NARDAC said in a statement. Draper is the final founding partner to join the business.

Draper will lead the business’s expansion into the European markets, building close relationships with London underwriting capital and working with risk managers, retail brokers, and reinsurers supporting the next generation of energy and infrastructure projects, the statement added.

The move seeks to capitalise on what NARDAC believes to be asset classes under-served by currently available insurance products.

Before joining NARDAC, Draper led AFL’s international property and energy division, placing operational property, power, renewable energy and mining risks into the Lloyd’s, London Company and international markets. Prior to that, Draper spent 13 years with United Insurance Brokers, where he was in charge of building commercial relationships with independent brokers in Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe.

“Having somebody with Peter’s experience and expertise, honed over a successful career in insurance broking, joining us at NARDAC is hugely valuable,” said Jatin Sharma, managing partner of NARDAC.

“Our ambition to disrupt the current provision of insurance broking services in renewable energy, power and infrastructure is only possible through leveraging the expertise of the unique team of partners we have brought together.”
