Rune Dybedal, who has worked as an attorney and senior claims executive at North P&I Club for 19 years, has an additional role to play.

The industry veteran – whose experience spans more than 26 years – is now the chairman of the annual North Sea Operators’ Claims Conference (NSOCC), which has been held since 1976 to promote best practice across areas such as shipowner and charterer liability as well as passenger and cargo claims.

This year’s forum in Ipswich will be on October 07 and 08.

“The business and legal frameworks that the NSOCC designs are frequently used for professional guidance,” noted Dybedal. “As chairman I will continue to prioritise a commercial focus for the conference; one that delivers a comprehensive mix of legal and technical programmes that reflects the operational concerns of all players operating in the North, Baltic, and Irish Seas.”

According to the announcement, he will use the position to keep on developing the NSOCC as a platform to help drive beneficial changes in operational working practices and to build greater trust between owners, charterers, and other stakeholders.

Aside from shipowners and operators, NSOCC’s membership is also made up of P&I clubs, marine surveyors, shipping lawyers, and other professional experts.
