Sompo International marine underwriter James Hyett (pictured) has made the switch to AEGIS London.

Tasked to underwrite cargo, the key arrival will report to AEGIS London marine & energy head Richard Palengat. Hyett has 18 years of London market experience, which includes time spent at brokers JLT and Lockton.

“James brings a diversity of experience across a number of cargo sub-classes to complement our existing portfolio,” said Palengat. “He will be working closely with underwriter Dave Allen and the rest of the cargo team to shape and position the AEGIS London cargo account for the medium-to-long-term.

“This includes expanding our digital offering in the cargo space – our stock through-put product on OPAL, which is our online quote-and-bind platform.”

With decades of combined experience in its cargo underwriting team, AEGIS London offers coverage both for cargo in transit and in storage worldwide. Among the classes are bulk oil, arms / ammunition / military equipment, cargo and consequential loss contracts, project cargo, aircraft spares, pharmaceuticals / biotech, excess business, and general cargo.
