Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East Sir James Duddridge KCMG (pictured) has not only raised £1,600 for his London Marathon fundraiser for Southend RNLI by taking on work experience at InsureandGo, but also boosted the travel insurance broker’s plan to recruit 60 jobs.

Lifting the lid on the MP’s charity shift, InsureandGo noted in an emailed release: “As part of Sir James’ ongoing campaign to support Southend RNLI, InsureandGo is donating to his London Marathon fundraiser.

“The London Marathon in April will be Sir James’ fifth time running the iconic 26.2 miles. To date, Sir James has raised £11,164 for local charities such as Havens Hospices, HARP, and Southend Samaritans, as well as national charities including The Rose Patterson Trust and Diabetes UK.”

Duddridge, meanwhile, said he was overwhelmed by the support from the team at InsureandGo.

“It was brilliant to see first-hand InsureandGo’s commitment to the local community through providing high-quality employment opportunities, as well as supporting good local causes and initiatives across Southend,” commented the MP.

InsureandGo chief executive Chris Rolland added they enjoyed welcoming Duddridge to the firm’s office in Southend.

He stated: “InsureandGo is a major national brand in the travel insurance market, and we are proud of our local roots as a successful Southend business. Our staff are delighted to support Sir James with his ambitious fundraising project.

“We ourselves support a number of community initiatives, and we applaud Sir James for the fantastic work he is doing to support the life-saving heroes at the RNLI. His visit comes as the business continues to grow and expand, with plans to recruit an additional 60 staff in the next six months.”

Founded in 2000, InsureandGo currently employs more than 100 people. The business provided more than three million travel insurance policies to UK customers in 2019.
