Southend-based travel insurance specialist InsureandGo has announced that it will be creating at least 70 new local jobs as the firm expands its operations following the pandemic.

The announcement comes after the insurer’s purchase by AllClear Group from global insurance company MAPFRE Asistencia earlier this year.

“InsureandGo has a long history in Southend, and we are keen to continue to build on that, ensuring the brand plays a leading role in the city, making a meaningful contribution to the prosperity of the region,” Chris Rolland, chief executive officer of AllClear Group, told the Southend Echo.

“Despite a very challenging 18-months for the travel industry, the AllClear Group is gearing up for the bounce-back in the travel sector as British families start planning overseas holidays for 2022,” he added. “Our latest market research suggests the sector could be set for a boom early in the New Year.”

Meanwhile, councillor Daniel Cowan, who represents the St Laurence Ward, said the announcement was a welcome boost to the city’s travel industry, especially after jobs were lost at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Having so many new jobs so close to the High Street… will have a positive effect on the [pandemic] recovery of local retailers and businesses,” he told Southend Echo. “Southend is a great place to live, study, and work, and it’s encouraging to see the continued investment of Southend-based businesses and I hope to see more companies investing in Southend and seeing Southend as a great place to locate their business.”

Based in Warrior Square, InsureandGo has been providing travel insurance for more than 20 years. The firm has served more than 25 million clients during the period.
