Autonet and VisionTrack have teamed up to bring a new usage-based insurance product to the market.

Designed to cater to young and new drivers, the private car offering uses VisionTrack’s video telematics solutions to monitor driving behaviour. The provided dashcam captures driving footage in high definition and also has motion detection, an ultra-wide lens, and a loop recording function.

The goal is to check factors that could affect the insurance policy, such as where the vehicle is driven and where it is kept overnight.

“We’re really excited to be partnering with VisionTrack to provide this new product to our Only Young Drivers brand,” commented Autonet and Carole Nash chief executive Ian Donaldson. “Innovative solutions like this enable us to help protect customers and provide more affordable policies for our younger drivers.”

Only Young Drivers is a trading name of Autonet Insurance Services Ltd, which has a turnover in excess of £130 million.

“I’m delighted to see that our technology has been built into a new product and adopted by Autonet for private-car,” said Simon Marsh, managing director of VisionTrack. “I’m passionate about road safety, fighting fraud, and increasing transparency with claims and this offering will encompass all of these elements.”

The cloud-based video telematics provider has won eight awards for innovation in the last two years.
