The first fully digital and algorithmically driven Lloyd’s syndicate, Ki, has brought in a new chief technology officer (CTO).

With 18 years of experience across the technology sector, including expertise in building user experience and working with complex data sets, Richard Hodgson has been brought into the role, as well as taking a place on the Ki executive committee. He is now set to lead the firm’s technology strategy and execution.

“Ki represents a unique opportunity to apply a technology driven mindset to a well-established market,” he said. “What the Ki team have achieved to date is unique for the market and illustrates a case study for success in the UK start-up ecosystem. I’m excited to join Ki’s talented team in further developing the platform and helping to grow the business.”

Hodgson, who officially begins in the role today, reports into development director James Birch, and was also welcomed by CEO Mark Allan.

“At Ki, we are taking a technology first approach to underwriting,” Allan said. “We are therefore delighted that Richard joins Ki in the newly created role of CTO. Richard will bring an entrepreneurial approach and proven experience in scaling technology in a high-growth business as we look to continually explore new opportunities to provide a best-in-class and differentiated digital service to the market.”
