Durham-based start-up honcho has teamed up with insurance software giant SSP.

The partnership will see the honcho reverse auction marketplace platform integrated into SSP’s systems. This will allow more than 700 SSP partner insurers and customers to access the up-and-coming insurance distribution disruptor’s technology.

“Where insurers or brokers are already connected to a software house, the amount of incremental work for them to connect to honcho is small,” noted honcho chief technology officer Chad Crossman.

“We know that several SSP customers are already eager to join the honcho panel and our technology team, along with SSP’s, are working flat out to complete this integration as quickly as possible.”

Slated to launch in the second quarter of 2019, honcho is currently busy with testing. In January Insurance Business reported that the start-up was in its final stages of prep work.

Describing the agreement as “another big step” in revolutionising the UK insurance distribution market, honcho chief executive Gavin Sewell cited their commitment to bringing transparency, equitability, consumer choice, and value.

Meanwhile SSP distribution director Ron Atkinson had this to say: “We are excited about working with honcho, and this partnership makes it possible for SSP users to promote their brands via honcho.

“All SSP customers using our Pure Broking and ElectraM3 systems will be able to access the honcho panel, which will open up new channels for new business.”
