London-based Inherent Risks has been tapped to provide emergency medical response and evacuation services to USAID (United States Agency for International Development) partners in Ukraine.

The global risk advisory and crisis response firm is the name behind Ukraine Response, a war and accident membership that is fully indemnified with the backing of Lloyd’s and company market insurers. The membership covers medical and crisis response with no war exclusions up to a limit of US$250,000.

Assisting USAID-funded projects in Ukraine expands Inherent Risks’ presence in the country. The UK company has been providing medical evacuation and crisis response services and risk advisory across Ukraine to the insurance market since Russia’s invasion.

The new contract, financial terms of which were not disclosed, spans travel risk management and duty-of-care services such as pre-travel safety briefs, intelligence reports, incident alerts, safety check-in, itinerary tracking, risk maps, and the round-the-clock emergency medical response and evacuation services.

In an emailed release, Inherent Risks managing partner Dan Kaine said: “Since the start of the war on February 24, 2022, USAID has provided US$9.88 billion in development and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. To accomplish its humanitarian mission, USAID relies on a vast network of trusted partners, all of which have a duty of care to their staff across the country.

“Inherent Risks is honoured to be entrusted with providing essential protective and responsive services that enable USAID partners to achieve their missions. We are thrilled to be tapped to provide these essential services for USAID partners.”
