Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has appointed Anthony Vassallo to the newly created role of global head of natural resources, effective immediately.

In his new role, Vassallo will be responsible for advancing AGCS's natural resources offering in the market. His primary focus will be driving the climate transition across various segments of the energy industry, including renewables, oil and gas, power generation, and mining. AGCS aims to expand its presence in the renewable energy, green technology, and emerging global hydrogen economy sectors.

Vassallo joined Allianz in 2003. Throughout his tenure, he has held diverse positions within the specialty lines of the business, spanning the London Market, Asia, and South America. His roles have encompassed underwriting and distribution in both regional and global capacities.

Presently, Vassallo serves as the global energy product leader and regional head of energy and construction for Regional Unit London. He will continue in these roles until a successor is appointed.

“With his extensive knowledge and expertise across Allianz, I am delighted to announce we are promoting Anthony from his regional management position to join our global specialty leadership team,” Browne said. “He has proven himself as a strong leader with the ability to manage and shape a global underwriting portfolio.”

Vassallo's promotion comes at a pivotal moment as AGCS and Allianz operating entities worldwide embark on a new phase, collaborating as Allianz Commercial. Together, they aim to establish a formidable presence across the entire commercial P&C segment, encompassing mid corp, large corp, and specialty lines.

Earlier this week, AGCS announced the appointment of Claire-Marie Coste-Lepoutre as chief financial officer.
