Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, Allianz Group’s specialty corporate insurer, has announced the appointment of Hugo Reyes as senior underwriter, general aviation, for North America. Reyes will report to David Watkins, regional head of general aviation. Reyes will be based in Colorado and will be responsible for the underwriting of complex general aviation risks and broker development and management, Allianz said.
Reyes has nearly two decades of industry experience. He began his career with the US Aviation Insurance Group (USAIG) as a claims representative, and went on to hold a variety of positions there, including underwriter and assistant vice president. He later joined Swiss Re, where he rose to vice president and managed the company’s West Coast office. Reyes holds a degree in aviation management and air traffic control from Daniel Webster College.
“Hugo’s extensive aviation experience from a strong underwriting and claims perspective provides a tremendous advantage in the market,” Watkins said. “I look forward to working alongside him and witnessing first-hand the boost he’ll give the business, and am pleased to welcome his into the Allianz organization.”
