AXA XL has named Andrew Dicob as leader of the company’s excess casualty insurance team in the US north eastern region.

Dicob, who will be based in New York, will work with both brokers and clients in the region, and will report to AXA XL president of global excess casualty Donnacha Smyth.

“Andrew is an experienced leader and an excellent addition to our global team,” said Smyth in a statement. “He brings in-depth knowledge of the industry and of the North Eastern region of the US which strengthens our position as one of the leading excess casualty insurers in the country.”

Dicob has more than 16 years’ of experience in commercial insurance. He most recently served as vice-president of commercial insurance underwriting with Navigators Management Company, managing the New York and New Jersey book of umbrella and excess casualty accounts in the north east region. He received his MBA from Whitman School of Business at Syracuse University and his BA in History and Education from State University of New York Postdam.

He assumes the responsibilities of the current regional leader Lou Forte, who has been appointed executive underwriter for excess casualty insurance for North America.

“Lou’s in-depth expertise and solid relationships with broker and clients will bolster our underwriting team. He is an esteemed expert in the market and a fantastic mentor to emerging talent in our business,” Smyth added.
