AXIS Capital Holdings Limited has announced $1 million in targeted donations to support COVID-19 relief efforts. AXIS will partner with non-profits providing pandemic relief globally, as well as in the communities in which AXIS operates.

“COVID-19 is an unprecedented challenge that is impacting millions of lives,” said Albert Benchimol, president and CEO of AXIS. “As a purpose-driven organization, we feel a deep commitment to do our part to give back and help support the relief efforts that are underway globally, as well as in our local communities. Nearly every one of us has been touched in some way by COVID-19. This is a time that we must come together as an industry, as companies, and as individuals to support the relief and recovery efforts and help create a sustainable future.”

Half of the funds will be allocated to organizations providing global COVID-19 relief, AXIS said. Recipients include International Medical Corps, a global non-profit humanitarian aid organization. International Medical Corps provides emergency medical relief and training to people affected by conflict, disaster and disease. The non-profit is working with the World Health Organization to provide training, expertise, equipment and triage and treatment services to healthcare staff and organizations across the globe. AXIS will identify additional recipients, based on COVID-19 relief needs, over the course of the year.

The other half of the funds will be allocated to addressing local needs in the communities in which AXIS operates. The company has a presence in the US, Europe, Singapore, Canada, the Middle East, and Bermuda, where it is headquartered.
