Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has acquired McLean Insurance Agency in Potomac Falls, VA.

McLean Insurance, established in 1971, provides retail P&C, life, and employee benefit brokerage and consulting services to businesses and individuals throughout the Eastern US.

McLean president and CEO Douglas B. Megill and his associates will continue to operate from their current location under the supervision of Gallagher Mid-Atlantic retail property/casualty brokerage operations head Dan Tropp, and Gallagher Southeast employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations head John Tournet.

According to Gallagher chairman, president and CEO J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., the addition of McLean Insurance “solidifies Gallagher’s presence in Northern Virginia and expands [the company’s] high-net-worth personal lines offerings across the region.”

This is the latest in a string of acquisitions Gallagher has made this month. For March, the global insurance brokerage purchased the aerospace operations of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group, retail broker Merit Insurance in Connecticut, and commercial safety consultant Hammerberg Insurance Services, dba First Iowa Insurance Agency in Iowa.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
