GEICO’s board of directors has named Greg Jacobi to the role of vice president of the company’s regional office in San Diego.

In addition, the board has also elected James Jones as assistant vice-president of claims for the region. Karen De Mars has also been appointed as assistant vice-president of underwriting.

Jacobi’s appointment comes after he was named assistant vice-president of claims for the San Diego office earlier this year. Prior to that role, he had been assistant vice-president of underwriting since 2015.

In 2004, he was named sales and service director at the GEICO regional office in Buffalo, NY. He was later elected assistant vice-president of underwriting for the Buffalo region after completing the company’s executive assistant program. Jacobi then relocated to the Dallas regional office in 2011 to serve as the region’s assistant vice-president of underwriting. He then eventually moved to San Diego office in 2015.

Jones, meanwhile, first joined GEICO in 2003 in the Emerging Leaders Program. He was then named retention manager in 2005 at the Tucson, AZ regional office, before moving to the claims division in 2006.

As the regional office planning manager in Tucson, Jones served as auto damage field supervisor for Alaska and Northern California. He was later promoted in 2012 to auto damage manager. In 2017, he was named auto damage director of the Tucson region, overseeing the auto damage operations in seven states.

De Mars most recently served as assistant vice-president for GEICO Local Office operations. She joined the company in 1985, initially as a part-time underwriting associate. She then started serving full-time positions in 1988, before attaining the position of supervisor in 1993.
