A series of leadership appointments across the insurance industry this month have positioned several firms to support ongoing business growth, strategic initiatives, and operational oversight.
MSIG USA, the US subsidiary of Japan-based MS&AD Insurance Group, has appointed Kent Ziegler (pictured above, left) as chief financial officer and chief administrative officer.
In this dual role, Ziegler will lead all finance and administrative functions, including financial reporting, acquisition strategy, integration, capital strategy, investment oversight, and regulatory compliance.
He will also contribute to enterprise risk management, treasury operations, and long-term planning. Ziegler brings over three decades of experience in financial leadership roles across insurance, banking, and real estate.
Prior to joining MSIG USA, he held CFO positions at Allied World Assurance Co. Holdings GmbH, JPMorgan Chase, and Gulf Insurance Group, a Citigroup/Travelers company. Most recently, he served as global corporate controller at Axis Capital Holdings Ltd.
Earlier this month, MSIG also named Tony Beirne as chief actuary and Dale James as chief risk officer.
Aspen Insurance has promoted Jon Kattman (pictured above, right) to head of inland marine, where he will oversee the underwriting team, set underwriting strategy, and manage risk for the inland marine portfolio. Based in Atlanta, Kattman has been with Aspen since 2017 and was most recently senior vice president, head of field for inland marine.
His experience includes underwriting leadership roles at Hanover Insurance Group, Liberty Mutual Insurance, and Zurich Insurance Services. He has supported Aspen’s geographic expansion efforts, strengthening alignment with regional and local trading partners.
In January, Aspen also announced that Michelle Dudek has been appointed head of US environmental, where he oversees environmental products and underwriting strategies.
Cyber insurance and risk management firm Converge Insurance has named David Kimmel as its chief financial officer. In this position, Kimmel will oversee the company’s financial strategy as it continues to scale operations and build its presence in the cyber insurance space.
Kimmel brings over 35 years of experience across insurance, investment banking, and technology sectors. He co-founded Insurance Advisory Partners and previously led financial services investment banking at JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank.
His past roles also include serving as CEO of CyberRiskPartners, a firm focused on cyber risk analytics and insurance. Kimmel has board and advisory experience in reinsurance, asset management, life and annuities, and insurtech.
Frankenmuth Insurance has appointed Kelly Ott as chief legal officer and corporate secretary, effective April 28.
Ott will serve as the top legal advisor to the company, overseeing legal affairs, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance for Frankenmuth Insurance and its subsidiaries. She will also support the board of directors and executive committees in her role as corporate secretary.
Ott has over 30 years of experience in private practice and in-house counsel roles. She previously held senior legal positions at State Farm, Horace Mann, and The Hanover Group. Her expertise includes Michigan’s no-fault laws, personal injury protection, and the Essential Insurance Act.
Ott is a board member of the Insurance Alliance of Michigan and has served on the boards of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce and the Michigan Auto Insurance Placement Facility.
