Morgan Stanley hires AIG executive

Investment banking company Morgan Stanley has appointed a former AIG executive, Ruchika Sethi, to the role of global support center head.

As global head of the banking company’s in-house support centers, Sethi will oversee the facilities and their specific tasks. Some centers fulfill back office and business functions related to technology, legal compliance, and operations, among others, while other locations house call centers.

Sethi will oversee a total of nine support centers worldwide, in locations such as Bangalore and Budapest. She succeeds Arun Kohli, who had been leading the centers for the past two years on top of her responsibilities as chief operating officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“The global in-house centers around the world are playing an increasingly important role in the success of our firm,” said Morgan Stanley head of technology, operations and firm resilience Rob Rooney.

Rooney added that the company’s ambitions for its global support centers strategy need “senior, full-time focus,” hence the appointment of Sethi.

Sethi was most recently global deputy chief operating officer and chief transformation officer for AIG’s general insurance unit.

When asked by Reuters to comment on Sethi’s transfer to Morgan Stanley, AIG was unable to give a response in time.
