Independent Lloyd’s broker AFL Insurance Brokers has announced the appointment of Julia Moretti (pictured) as director of casualty.

Prior to joining AFL, Moretti was a partner and senior casualty producer in the facultative division at JLT Reinsurance Brokers. She has 18 years of industry experience.

Morretti’s appointment is the latest in a series of hires at AFL as the company builds out its independent wholesale and retail channels.

“I am delighted Julia has joined AFL to support our growth in the casualty space, where we are presenting a real alternative, independent choice for complex, multi-layered global risks,” said Toby Esser, chairman of AFL. “Julia’s experience and well-established relationships in the market, and dedication to a client-first approach, are a perfect fit with the values we have built at AFL, and I welcome her to our team.”

“Julia is an expert addition to our growing casualty practice, which is a key area of innovation for us,” AFL CEO Bob Finch said. “We remain committed to developing and adopting progressive ways of collaborating with our clients, and Julia’s experience is an excellent fit with our ethos and our team.”

“I am excited to join AFL and look forward to helping build out its growing casualty business,” Moretti added. “I have been impressed by the company’s commitment to modernizing process in insurance, combined with senior management’s active support for new ideas and entrepreneurial team spirit. The casualty sector is changing rapidly, with new areas of liability risk emerging.”
