Topa Insurance Company promotes executive to reinsurance leadership role

Topa Insurance Company has promoted Olive Chang to the role of vice-president of reinsurance.

As vice-president of reinsurance, Chang will have direct oversight of reinsurance placements for all Topa Insurance Group entities. She will be responsible for strategic planning, terms negotiation, contract review, and execution of reinsurance transactions, and she will manage the company’s relationships with its reinsurance partners. Chang will also help develop general agency and broker agreements.

Chang first joined Topa Insurance Company in 2015. She has served a couple of key roles within the company since joining, such as programs & reinsurance manager, and most recently as assistant vice-president of reinsurance & programs. Before joining Topa Insurance, Chang was the head of treaty reinsurance at Aon Benfield, where she was the country head of the company’s Thailand operations. She also worked at Guy Carpenter as a senior vice-president of treaty broking for the US West Coast and at Swiss Re as a manager of ceded reinsurance.

She has more than 26 years of experience and has the ARe designation.
