Recognized for its workplace diversity efforts, Zurich Insurance has been named one of 2018’s Top Companies for Executive Women by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE).
The distinction is awarded to American companies where women have considerable clout to make decisions and influence their company. This is Zurich’s third straight year being recognized by NAFE.
“We are honored to again be recognized by NAFE as a top company for executive women. Zurich believes having a diverse workforce drives better outcomes, inspiring confidence in our employees and our customers to help them reach their full potential,” said Zurich North America CEO Kathleen Savio.
Zurich has an employee resource group for women called the Women’s Innovation Network (WIN). With over 1,800 members in North America, WIN provides women with a professional network for them to connect with other like-minded colleagues.
NAFE determines the companies that make the list by conducting employee surveys, which examine how many employees have access to programs, as well as policies that promote advancement of women and how many employees take advantage of them. The survey also examines how companies train managers to help women advance.
“NAFE’s annual scrutiny of women’s progress at American companies offers essential data about the movement of women into top leadership in the private sector,” commented NAFE president Betty Spence.
Spence explained that 2018 is the first year in the NAFE’s Top Companies annual awards wherein five companies had boards with 50% or more women. She then pointed to “a synergy between the greater presence of women on the board and an increase in the number of winning companies with women CEOs and with 50%-plus women in the C-suite (10 companies).”
