Cybersecurity company Blackpoint Cyber has announced the appointment of J. Chris Wilkerson (pictured above) as vice president of Blackpoint RISK and head of insurance. The appointment marks a key expansion of Blackpoint’s cyber insurance leadership team, the company said.

“We are extremely fortunate to be welcoming Chris in this exciting role and look forward to seeing him excel based on his wealth of experiences, knowledge and depth of leadership,” said Jon Murchison, founder and CEO of Blackpoint.

Wilkerson began his cyber brokerage career with Marsh McLennan, where he managed a book of pre-and post-IPO technology companies. He has also held roles at McGriff and EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants. Most recently, Wilkerson served in EPIC’s Greyling division, driving strategies in cybersecurity and financial risk.

“What immediately jumped out to me when I met Blackpoint leadership was how successful they have been in bringing together a team of diverse talent with a collectively exceptional background in security and technology,” Wilkerson said. “I’m incredibly excited and proud to have the opportunity to be a part of that.”

In his new role, Wilkerson will lead Blackpoint RISK, the company’s cyber liability insurance offering geared toward the MSP community.

“Blackpoint is uniquely positioned to impact the way we address cyber risk and insurance as an ecosystem, rather than a siloed, transactional purchase of a policy,” Wilkerson said. “We’re bringing forward an integrated enterprise business solution with structured insurance and technology together in a collaborative platform that will help guide our partners through the hardest cyber insurance market seen in three decades.

“This year, we’re looking forward to introducing Blackpoint’s proprietary insurance market cyber facility with our insurer partners and working to lead from the front edge of an evolving threat landscape.”
