AXA XL has added underwriters Odette Novoa and Erica Delaney to its environmental insurance team based in New York.

The two join AXA XL’s northeast regional environmental underwriting line-up and will report to AXA XL head of environmental for the east region Hiral Shah.

Novoa joins AXA XL from Aspen, where she was an underwriter of environmental and casualty lines in both domestic and international markets. She began her insurance career with Aon as an account specialist. Novoa received her bachelor of arts degree in international business from Florida International University.

Delaney most recently served as northeast regional pollution underwriter for The Hartford. She has also worked for companies such as Aspen Insurance Group and Preferred Concepts. She is a graduate of Pace University.

“Environmental insurance has become more of a staple in businesses’ insurance portfolios. As pollution incidents can easily result in a five or six-figure clean-up price tag, businesses have found environmental insurance to be an effective tool in protecting their bottom line,” said Shah. “We’re excited to attract industry talent like Odette and Erica to help support our continued growth and our clients’ steady requests for environmental insurance as a risk management tool.”

The new hires come after AXA XL late last month appointed Sheri Wilbanks as business manager of the company’s global casualty & environmental lines.
