Tokio Marine HCC (TMHCC), a specialty insurance group and part of the global Tokio Marine Group, has established a new presence in the US healthcare insurance sector with the launch of its healthcare professional liability business.
The company has appointed Greg Hamlin as president of the unit, where he will oversee strategy and operations.
He will be based in New York City and report to TMHCC chief executive officer Susan Rivera.
Rivera said that TMHCC’s entry into the hospital liability space is a strategic move to address shifting market conditions.
“At TMHCC, we are committed to enhancing our offering to reflect the needs of insureds, aligning expertise and capacity where it is required most," said Rivera. “Market dynamics have seen capacity become increasingly constrained for the healthcare industry."
TMHCC’s track record in specialty insurance has earned industry recognition. In 2024, Insurance Business America named the company a 5-Star Cyber winner, marking its fourth consecutive year receiving the award.
Hamlin has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare liability sector. Most recently, he served as senior vice president for institutional accounts at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. Earlier in his career, he worked at AIG before leading Zurich North America’s Large Hospital and Medical Facilities segments.
“We have a consistent track record of building market leading teams, and with [Hamlin's] technical expertise, TMHCC will develop innovative solutions that meet the needs of insureds in the US hospital professional liability market,” Rivera added.
Headquartered in Houston, TMHCC operates in the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe.
