Canopius bolsters US management and professional lines
Reinsurer Canopius has added a new US management & professional lines team member, coinciding with its plans to expand its offering in the area.

William “Bill” P. Kelly was appointed senior vice-president of US management & professional lines. He will be based in New York and report to Canopius US management & professional lines head Laurie Banez.

“Reflecting the group’s commitment to this sector and responding to the risk management needs of mid-sized to large commercial and financial institution risks, Canopius is building a diverse profitable platform of US management and professional lines,” the reinsurer said in a release.

“Bill is widely respected by brokers and clients and has a diverse background of management and professional lines experience,” commented Banez. “As we expand our offering in the US, we continue to focus on doing so in the right way and with the right people, so I am delighted to welcome Bill to the team and I look forward to adding more top talent and introducing new products and services throughout 2018.”

Kelly has about 25 years of experience in a number of senior underwriting and management roles, specializing in professional and management liability lines. He spent 12 years at Chubb Insurance in NY and California, before moving to Arch Insurance as regional vice-president. He was later named vice-president of commercial D&O by Hartford Financial Products. In January 2015, he assumed the role of senior vice-president of E&O underwriting at Argo Pro.
