Sompo International Holdings has named Ray Santiago executive vice-president and leader of the company’s US commercial management liability (CML) and financial institutions (FI) teams.

In his new role, Santiago will be based in New York and report to Sompo International CEO of US insurance Chris Sparro. He will have management oversight for Sompo International’s commercial management liability and financial institutions teams, which will continue to be led by Joe Spallone, SVP of CML, and Dennis Krause, SVP of FI.

Santiago has over 30 years of insurance industry experience, most recently serving as senior vice-president of underwriting for XL Catlin’s professional liability team. Before that, he served as regional executive for AIG’s New York and mid-Atlantic regions, as well as being financial institutions leader for Willis.

“Ray’s extensive technical expertise as an experienced D&O underwriter and his deep knowledge of the professional lines market makes him a terrific choice to lead our CML and FI teams,” said Sparro.
