Applied Systems has published a set of performance figures for Epic Conductor, the AI platform it launched inside Applied Epic this week at its Applied Net 2026 user conference in Washington, DC.

The figures promise large time savings across agency operations, but Applied has not said how they were measured, which agencies were involved, or what baseline they were compared against.

The most detailed claims relate to submissions. Applied said that reading policy and new business data directly from carrier documents saves 55 minutes per submission. It added that automated policy checking and quote comparison sve 32 to 60 minutes per check, depending on whether the account is monoline or multi-line. It put extraction accuracy at 99% across more than 90 carriers, with no manual data mapping needed.

Applied made similar claims for back-office and carrier work. It said automatically pulling commission statements from carrier portals cuts reconciliation hours by 90%. Submission handling time falls by 60%, giving account managers more than two hours back each day, while renewal quote requests return inside Epic within three hours, rather than more than three days.

The company also said that nearly half of the labor at agencies, brokerages and carriers still goes on manual data entry, rekeying and validation. It did not give a source for that figure.

The numbers go well beyond the headline claim in Applied's original launch release, which said extracting carrier data into Epic would immediately reduce data entry by more than 50%.

"Many of the AI solutions available today are features solving a narrow use case, not connecting work across the whole policy lifecycle," said Lance Williams, Applied's chief product officer.

Rekeying remains agents' top complaint

Applied is targeting a well-documented problem in US independent distribution. An Ivans survey published in August found 74% of agents named rekeying risk data across carrier portals as their biggest pain point. The same survey found that submission friction had overtaken product and price as the main factor in where independent agents place business.

AI adoption across the channel is rising quickly from a low base. The 2026 Agency Universe Study from the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (Big "I") and Future One surveyed 1,376 respondents. It found 46% of independent agencies now use AI, up from 15% in 2024.

However, the most common uses were marketing content (49%), coverage form analysis (43%) and contract reviews (35%), not the operational and accounting work Epic Conductor targets. Keeping up with AI was also new to the study's list of challenges this year, cited by 43% of agencies.

Questions over accuracy and baselines

Applied's figures leave several questions unanswered.

The company has not said whether its 99% accuracy rate is measured per field, per document or per policy. At the volumes a mid-sized agency handles, even 1% of fields captured incorrectly could mean a steady stream of wrong limits or missing endorsements. These are the errors most likely to lead to E&O claims. Applied said every action is logged for E&O purposes, and that certificates need approval before they are issued. It has not said how often staff need to correct the extracted data.

Applied has also not said whether its time savings account for the staff time needed to review AI output. It has not said whether the figures come from the agencies that served as design partners for the platform, which typically have closer vendor support than the average Epic user. It has also not given results by line of business or by carrier.

The three-hour renewal turnaround depends on carriers quoting back into Epic. That makes it as much a measure of carrier connectivity as of Applied's own software.

What it means for agencies

For independent agencies weighing up the platform, the figures are best treated as Applied's targets rather than a benchmark. Applied's existing Epic connections give it a head start with carriers that few rival platforms can match.

Even so, the gains an individual agency sees are likely to depend on how clean its own data is, its mix of business, and how many of its carriers are connected to Epic.

Agencies with standardized workflows and a concentrated carrier panel are likely to come closest to Applied's figures. Agencies with complex commercial books, spread across regional carriers and wholesale markets, may find more of the work still lands on staff.

For those agencies, the AI review and correction process could matter as much as the time it saves.
