Amanda Blanc took the helm at Aviva just this year, leading the group’s FTSE100 savings, retirement, and insurance business. Her career spans more than three decades, starting as a graduate at one of Aviva’s ancestor companies, Commercial Union. Since then she has held senior executive roles across the insurance industry. She was a former CEO at AXA UK and Ireland, as well as CEO for EMEA and global banking partnerships, group EXCOM member, and chair at Zurich Insurance. Blanc has also held leadership roles at Towergate Insurance Brokers, Groupama Insurance Company, and Commercial Union; and was previously a management consultant at Ernst & Young. Blanc has served as chair of the Association of British Insurers, Chair of the Insurance Fraud Bureau, and president of the Chartered Insurance Institute. She is currently chair of the Welsh Professional Rugby Board, and a member of the UK Government’s Financial Services Trade Advisory Group. Blanc is an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and has an MBA from Leeds University. She also holds a BA (hons) in History from the University of Liverpool.
