An industry-leading company that provides evidence-based, independent medical evaluations is going national, setting up offices from coast to coast.

AssessMed is opening assessment centres in Quebec (Montreal, Quebec City), St. John’s, NL, Vancouver, B.C. and Edmonton, Alta., extending its reach beyond its current Toronto, Ont., headquarters.

According to AssessMed president Brian Sutherland, this former regional player has aggressively expanded operations across Canada due to industry demand for truly unbiased, credible and defensible IME reports delivered on a timely basis and at fair market value.

“While national expansion is challenging,” says Sutherland, “it is a key initiative to our company’s growth model and our clients with offices across Canada have outwardly asked us to expand our operational borders so they may better benefit from our industry leading, client focused business model.”

A privately held Canadian company, AssessMed has been a provider of evidence-based, IME since 1992. Its clients include personal injury law firms (both plaintiff and defence), auto insurers, life and health disability insurers, provincial worker’s compensation boards, and  large municipal employers.

“While the need for a truly national platform within the IME space is great, much attention must be placed on regional customization to best serve individual client needs,” says Don Kunkel, executive vice president at AssessMed. “It is not enough to simply post an address on your website or act as a medical assessment broker; one that simply books an appointment and slaps an invoice on a report before sending it out the door without proper Quality Assurance guidelines.”
