Managing general agents. Just about everybody uses them, but how important are they to your underwriting?

Insurance Business magazine is reaching out to brokers to get their feedback on how they rate Canada’s MGAs – so far as premium pricing, marketing support, automation, responsiveness and turnaround times, on a scale of 1-9, with 1 being not important and 9 very important.

Activity in the MGA market has heated up in Canada the past year. One British Columbia MGA, Beacon Underwriting, acquired Vancouver-based Can-Sure Underwriting Ltd. this spring.

In January, CFC Underwriting – a Lloyd’s MGA specializing in niche product offers – announced the launch of O&G, specifically designed to target the oil and gas professional looking for comprehensive coverage.
