A Toronto man was arrested this week for fraud under $5,000 after an investigation into alleged automotive insurance fraud.

Fifty-six-year-old Min Hoi “Kenny” Yau has purportedly been selling auto insurance at a value more favourable than what was otherwise available and posing as a lawyer to do so. The paralegal was not licensed to sell auto insurance and the insurance was not valid.

Police apprehended Yau after a fraudulent insurance slip surfaced in November of last year.

He has been charged with fraud under $5,000, uttering a forged document and possession of proceeds of crime.

Police believe there may have been many victims in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (416) 808-4207 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (416) 222-TIPS (8477).
