Specialty insurer Beazley has named Zachary Cruickshank as its new country manager for Canada.

Based in Toronto, Cruickshank will continue to serve as regional leader for Canadian Commercial Property while assuming his expanded role with immediate effect.

As country manager, Cruickshank will act as the firm’s senior representative in Canada. His responsibilities will include overseeing client and broker relationship, engaging with regulatory stakeholders and supporting the company’s local strategic direction. He will also contribute to Beazley’s North American Management Committee, offering regional insight and operational support.

“Zac brings a broad range of experience and insight to the role,” said Lou Ann Layton, group head of distribution and marketing at Beazley. “He will play an important part in strengthening Beazley’s presence in the Canadian market.”

Cruickshank joined Beazley in 2022 as part of the Property Risks team. Prior to that, he held underwriting roles at Liberty Mutual, with a focus on commercial property. His background includes working with large-scale clients and managing complex portfolios, experience that is expected to support Beazley’s strategy in Canada.

Commenting on his appointment, Cruickshank said the Canadian market continues to present opportunities for specialty insurers.

“We’ve built strong relationships with brokers and partners across Canada,” he said. “I look forward to supporting the company’s work in the market and contributing to its continued development.”

Beazley underwrites a range of commercial and specialty lines globally, including property, casualty, cyber, and financial lines. In Canada, the firm operates through broker partnerships and is focused on expanding its offerings in areas such as commercial property and cyber risk. The appointment is part of Beazley’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its leadership structure and align regional operations with broader business objectives.
