Ferry service asks Canadian insurance CEO to come on board

British Columbia Ferry Services has elected Jan K. Grude to its board of directors.

Grude is president and CEO of Pacific Blue Cross and British Columbia Life & Casualty Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pacific Blue Cross. He has over 30 years of experience in financial services, insurance, and advisory services to health care, utilities, manufacturing and telecommunications.

He is also a former partner of Ernst & Young and has advised on large scale infrastructure, restructuring and privatization initiatives in Canada, the US, and the UK.

Grude is the former president and CEO of Mellon Financial Services Corporation Canada and former CEO of the New York-based The Buck Company. He also holds the ICD.D designation and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

His election to the board coincides with the re-election of Brian G. Kenning as director of British Columbia Ferry Services for another term. Appointments to the board were made by BC Ferry Authority, a shareholder of British Columbia Ferry Services.

Fulmer. “The director appointments will ensure the board continues to have the depth of experience and expertise necessary to ensure the continued success of this complex company."
