The professional liability division of Great American Insurance Group (GAIG) has expanded its primary and excess E&O coverage offerings into the Canadian market.

According to GAIG, its decision to expand its Canadian E&O offerings – which it just launched in Q4 2021 – is because it is taking advantage of an “improving market landscape.” The primary and excess professional liability products offer protection for a range of business professionals including design professionals, lawyers, technology firms, accountants and many other non-medical professional service firms.

GAIG has appointed Maia Espejo as professional liability divisional assistant vice president to lead the newly created division.

“Maia has 19 years of experience in the professional liability insurance market in Canada with extensive knowledge in the professional, financial and executive risk sectors,” said GAIG professional liability divisional president Reina Gregorio.

Espejo who joined GAIG in 2021, previously served as a national manager of technology & cyber at The Sovereign General Insurance Company. She was also the national underwriting manager for RSA Canada’s ProFin E&O division and a senior professional liability manager at Burns & Wilcox Canada. Espejo also held senior underwriting roles at Travelers Canada and Creechurch International Underwriters.

“As we continue to grow our market share, we are pleased to be able to offer Canadian professionals solutions to help safeguard their businesses,” commented Espejo.
