International broker Hub International Limited (Hub) has acquired British Columbia-based Golden Ears Insurance Services Ltd.

Golden Ears is a general insurance broker that specializes in commercial transportation, property and automobile fleet. It was founded in 2010 and has an office in Surrey.

With this acquisition, Hub taps on Golden Ears’ expertise in the transportation industry to strengthen its specialty practice.

"We are excited to welcome the Golden Ears team to Hub,” said Carol Mills, president and CEO of Hub International Coastal.

“Satish Kumar, Kapil Goyal, Aman Kumar and Grant Johnson established a great firm, and their specialized expertise and commitment to client excellence, combined with our market share, people focus and infrastructure, make this an exciting opportunity for both our organizations.”

The deal will see Golden Ears referred to as Golden Ears Insurance Services Ltd., a Hub International company.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Some of Hub’s recent Canadian acquisitions include life insurance MGA BridgeForce and National Bank Insurance Firm’s (NBIF) group insurance activities in Edmonton, Alberta.

In late July, the broker announced the appointment of Blake Giannisis as North American property practice leader.

It also unveiled a new offering for franchisors and franchisees in the US and those with cross-border operations in Canada called Hub Franchise Insurance Solutions.
