Insurance Business Canada has released its 2026 Brokers on MGAs special report, identifying the managing general agents (MGAs) that brokers rated highest across key areas of the wholesale distribution channel.
The report examines how brokers assess their MGA partners, with the findings providing insight into the factors shaping relationships between brokers and MGAs in Canada's insurance market.
Insurance Business Canada surveyed brokers nationwide on the performance and service of their wholesale partners.
Respondents rated MGAs on a scale of 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent) across nine categories:
The methodology was designed to measure how brokers view MGA performance across both distribution capabilities and day-to-day service.
MGAs that recorded an average score of 4.0 or greater in at least one category received a 5-Star designation. Those that achieved an average of 4.0 or greater across all categories received an All-Star designation.
The report also asked brokers to identify the leading insurance products offered by MGAs. The four products receiving the most votes were awarded a Brokers' Pick medal.
