The Insurance Institute (IIC) has announced it has revamped its website to bring a “modern” look to insurance education and an optimal online experience for its members and students.

The IIC is a professional education body for the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry. Its membership includes over 41,000, including more than 18,000 active students in its formal programs.

The institute is also the parent organization of the Chartered Insurance Professionals’ Society, which serves over 18,000 graduate chartered insurance professionals (CIP) and fellow chartered insurance professionals (FCIP).

Among the new improvements done to the website include the following:

  • New graphics have been applied to represent the spectrum of people who work in insurance.
  • Website text has been enhanced to make it more approachable and accessible.
  • The pages have been designed to enable long scrolling, so information can be presented in a manner that doesn’t overwhelm.
  • Jump links have been applied to make navigation more intuitive.
  • Images and icons, among other visuals are used to break up pages, same with testimonials and personalized recommendations.
  • A mobile-first approach was applied to the visual design and functionality to make the website easier to browse using a mobile device.
  • Content has been tested to ensure they comply with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities (AODA) regulations.

“The new Insurance Institute of Canada website will further strengthen engagement and connectivity with our members and stakeholders, and the industry more broadly,” said Peter Hohman, president and CEO of Insurance Institute.

He notes the new design and functional enhancements will make navigating pages easier not only for students and members, but also for those seeking information or acquiring insurance credtentials.

“From the start, the goal has been to build a contemporary website that inspires and empowers insurance professionals to achieve their career goals while being intuitive, visually appealing and easy to navigate,” said Hohman.
