Looking for a company that is great to work for? One insurer been ranked fourth in Fortune magazine’s 50 Best Small and Medium Workplaces list.

Assurance made the number four spot in the magazine’s annual 50 Best Small and Medium Workplaces list – the third year in a row Assurance was bestowed the Great Place to Work distinction, a badge of honour earned through its unique corporate culture and commitment to employee wellness.

“We take great pride in our efforts to enhance our employees' health and well-being, whether it’s offering them great benefits, showing our appreciation or ensuring the environment they work in truly accommodates their needs and diverse personalities,” said Steven Handmaker, Assurance's chief marketing officer. “Creating this rewarding work environment has led to success here at Assurance, and you can see the incredible difference our culture makes for our clients and the communities where we work and live.”

Originally ranked 17th in the small (50-250 employees) category in 2012 before jumping to sixth in the medium (251-999 employees) category in 2013, Handmaker is pleased that Assurance bested its previous rankings in its rise to fourth.

The annual Great Place to Work Best Small and Medium Workplaces list features companies from a broad spectrum of industries and locations that all share one thing in common: a steadfast dedication to improving their employees' working lives. The selection process used by Great Place to Work elicits applications from hundreds of companies across the country.

Winners are selected based on five criteria: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

A company that is currently expanding its reach, Assurance recently opened a new office in the heart of downtown Chicago, Ill.
