Canadian insurance brokerage and strategic consultancy firm, Jones Brown, has announced the promotion of Krista Franklin to the role of chief operating officer (COO). She will take on the role in additional to her current position as chief financial officer (CFO).

As COO, Franklin will take charge of both Game Day Insurance and Hunter McCorquodale. She has been tasked with executing Jones Brown’s strategic priorities and ensuring company-wide operational excellence. She will continue to report to CEO Rod Campbell.

“Krista’s dedication and passion for Jones Brown have accomplished transformational results, many of which we do not highlight enough, as her focus is on making revenue creation easier and the expense side of the business better,” said Campbell. “She’s a role model and inspirational leader and very much a professional who cares more.

“Krista has successfully developed a success-oriented, accountable culture, leading her teams to consistently deliver results. She makes the complex simple and has effectively managed multiple projects through to their successful completion, including leading the Pearson Dunn integration, streamlining operations, improving reporting, establishing best practices and managing the requirements of annual business plans.”

Franklin joined Jones Brown in 2015 and has more than 20 years of experience in the industry. As well as heading up the firm’s financial management strategy, she also assumed responsibility of HR, IT, operations, and legal functions as well as insurer relations.

In her three years at Jones Brown, Franklin has implemented key employee programs (compensation, benefits, talent management and retention tools), developed accounting policies and procedures, established a corporate BCP, backed the brokerage’s conversion to a paperless environment and successfully led Jones Brown’s Toronto office move in 2016.

Campbell described Franklin as being “instrumental in developing and leading our corporate strategy while cultivating strong long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders.”

He added: “Under Krista’s proven leadership, I am confident that we are well positioned to provide service excellence and carry out the company’s mission in line with our operating values.”
