McDougall Insurance and Financial has continued its expansion in the Eastern Ontario region by merging with MB Kouri Insurance Brokers Ltd.

CEO Ross McDougall confirmed that MB Kouri Insurance Brokers will join McDougall to operate as an independent broker.

Founded in 1982, MB Kouri Insurance Brokers specializes in niche areas like campgrounds, resorts, trailers, and mobile homes. It is located in Tamworth, Ontario, where McDougall Insurance has several other branches.

As part of the deal, employees of MB Kouri Insurance Brokers will remain within the organization and continue operating from the Tamworth location.

McDougall called the firm an “excellent fit for McDougall Insurance.” He reaffirmed the brokerage’s commitment to “our growth pattern and offering great service and products to our customers.”

McDougall’s growth trajectory

P&C insurer Definity acquired a majority stake in McDougall Insurance last year. Following Definity’s swoop, McDougall bought Ontario-based MacFarlan Rowlands Insurance Brokers in a deal amounting to $232 million. It also recently acquired Drayden Insurance in Alberta.

McDougall Insurance has a history tracing back to 1947. Headquartered in Belleville, it has a significant presence across Ontario.
