Serial acquirer Morison Insurance Brokers of Hamilton is about to get even bigger after it emerged that the company has bought up a stable of brokerages in Norfolk.

Morison Insurance has purchased Tri-County Insurance in Waterford, R.E. Mann Insurance in Simcoe and Port Dover, and McKiee & Farrar Ltd. in Simcoe, all of which were owned by Brad Smith of Simcoe.

Along with a presence in Hamilton, Morison is in Oakville, Toronto, St. Catharines and Hagersville and post acquisition counts 70 staff.

The acquisition will bring more choice to the customer base, with Smith’s firms having tapped into sectors that Morison had not yet moved into.

Smith will also remain involved in the running of the companies until at least 2017. He has signed a one-year employment contract with Morison which will be reviewed next year.

Morison has been on a growth spurt for several years with no less than 16 acquisitions to his name.
