Navacord has moved to further expand its presence in Atlantic Canada through a new partnership with Mitchell McConnell Insurance (MMI), a specialty brokerage headquartered in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Founded in 1927, MMI offers personal and commercial insurance and risk management services, with a key area of specialty in aquaculture. It boasts a team of long-term staff members, many of whom have built their insurance careers at the company, and a reputation for building strong relationships with clients in the Saint John area and neighbouring regions.

“We’re proud to bring our expertise in aquaculture to Navacord and strengthen its representation in Atlantic Canada,” said Christopher L. Bourque, president of Mitchell McConnell Insurance. “We look towards this next chapter at Mitchell McConnell with great excitement as we bring expanded capabilities, service, and commitment to our valued clients and community.”

“Atlantic Canada is an area that Navacord actively pursues for considerable growth, and we are pleased to have Mitchell McConnell represent Navacord for both their impressive reputation in the Maritimes as well as their highly specialized focus in the aquaculture sector,” said Shawn DeSantis, Navacord president and CEO.

Navacord’s most recent partnership comes after it announced its biggest deal yet. In May, the Toronto-based company acquired RWAM Administrators and Programmed Insurance Brokers, expanding its profile in the insurance and wealth management sectors.

“We see great opportunities in Atlantic Canada, Manitoba and Quebec, and we are keen to establish a presence there to be able to offer more services to more Canadians nationwide,” DeSantis said of Navacord’s growth plans in an interview with Insurance Business.
