The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada is offering a sneak peek of its new website, which goes online Monday.

OSFI is updating its external website, and is offering an opportunity to navigate the new site prior to it going “live” - and more importantly, for brokers to update URLs and bookmarks before those links disappear for good.

“We hope this opportunity for you to preview the new site will minimize the impact of the switch-over to the new site on November 25,” states OSFI in its press release. “Please take this time to familiarize yourself with the new website layout, and the location of items of interest to you.”

Although the content of the website will remain the same, the following are some things that will change when the new website is launched:

Bookmarks
If you have bookmarks or favourites within the current OSFI website, you will need to update them after November 25, once the new website is in place.

Search
A new and improved search function, located in the upper right section of the new website, to assist you in finding your documents. (continued.)

FINDAT (Financial Data)
If you have a program that interacts with OSFI’s FINDAT application, please note that the URL location of FINDAT will change. Please use this time to locate FINDAT on the website, and make the necessary preparations for the switch-over. A quick link to Regulatory Data and Returns has been added to the upper right hand side of the website, which will lead you to Financial Data.

Filing of returns
If you file returns with OSFI, the forms and deadlines to which you are accustomed will remain the same, only the location of the forms and instructions will change. A quick link to Regulatory Data and Returns has been added to the upper right hand side of the website, which will lead you to information relating to Corporate and Financial returns.

Terrorist lists and sanctions / Money laundering and terrorist financing sanctions
If you download or access terrorist or money laundering information on the OSFI website, the URL location of this information will also be changing. Although the pages on which these materials are located will change, the content and the reporting dates will remain the same. A quick link to Anti-money Laundering and Compliance has been added to the upper right hand side of the website, which will lead you to money laundering and terrorist financing information.

Email Notifications
Along with the new website, OSFI will also be launching a new email notification system to advise website subscribers when material that is relevant to their interests has been posted to the OSFI website. Before Monday, subscribers will receive an email asking to re-subscribe through the new email notification system. If you do not re-subscribe through the new website, you will no longer receive updates after Nov. 25.
