The Insurance Business Canada Awards (IBCAs) will take place on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Toronto’s Liberty Grand.
Since 2015, the IBCAs have awarded both organizations and individuals who have helped shape and move the insurance industry forward.
Recognizing the achievements of brokers, brokerages, carriers, underwriters, MGAs and risk managers, this event celebrates Canada’s thriving insurance industry while also giving a chance for attendees to network and mingle with peers for a night of socializing.
Hosting this year’s event is Tyrone Edwards, anchor for Etalk and an established philanthropist championing mental healthy advocacy and his community.
Whether acting as a mentor for underserved youth or an ambassador for Toronto’s Yorktown Family Services, Edwards uses his platform to uplift the marginalized voices. In 2016, he was awarded the Mandela Legacy Hope, Success and Empowerment Award alongside Naomi Campbell and Reverend Al Sharpton.
Once every award has been handed out, attendees will have a chance to celebrate their successes alongside a rousing set by Toronto’s Ascension Groove.
Blending the sounds of Motown, R&B, jazz, rock and soul funk, the band’s set will sure to have the crowd putting their best foot forward on the dance floor in between congratulatory schmoozing.
The event will be in support of the Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade, which aims to raise $25 million by 2025 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
“There really isn’t an event like this in Canada,” said Rupinder Hayer, president of Armour Insurance Brokers, who is sponsoring the CEO of the Year award.
“Most recognition for the insurance industry is on a more micro level, but this opens the opportunity up for professionals across the country, which is really exciting,” he added.
The excellence awardees were announced in late August in lead up to the canonical event in November.
