Revealed – Canada's top 20 underwriters of 2024

Insurance Business Canada (IBC) has revealed its list of the premier insurance underwriters in the country for the year 2024.

The IBC “Brokers on Underwriters” report spotlights the top 20 specialists in the Canadian insurance sector, recognised for their excellence in serving broker partners.

The highlighted underwriters distinguished themselves through their comprehensive product knowledge, solution-focused strategies, prompt responsiveness, and their flexibility, accessibility, and approachability, alongside a willingness to entertain new ideas.

Methodology

The selection process involved a detailed marketing and survey campaign, conducted by the IBC team, to tap into its extensive broker network nationwide.

Brokers were invited to nominate underwriters and evaluate them based on six criteria:

• effectiveness of communication;
• speed in handling new business inquiries;
• in-depth knowledge of their own products;
• familiarity with competitors' offerings;
• solution-focused attitude; and
• the capacity to engage in discussions about new cases.

Only those underwriters who achieved a rating of 80% or higher were accorded the distinction of being named 5-Star Underwriters for 2024, marking them as leaders in the field according to the standards set by their broker collaborators.
