Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has announced the appointment of James Gasco (pictured) as head of Canada, effective September 1.

In this role, Gasco will assume responsibility for leading the company’s Canada business, driving strategic direction, and further expanding its presence in the Canadian market. He will join the North America regional management team while continuing to serve as a member of the Canada management team for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.

Gasco will be reporting to Katie McGrath, CEO North America, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. He succeeds Adrian Hall, who is relocating to London to become head of UK, Ireland, South Africa, and EMEA Wholesale for Swiss Re.

Gasco has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. His most recent role was head of property & specialty, Canada. In this position, he led the team across general property, energy and engineering, and construction lines.

Over the last three years, Gasco played a pivotal role in expanding Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’ footprint across Canada, helping achieve significant growth and profitability, the company said.

He also recently joined the branch management committee for the Canadian branch of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions America Insurance Corporation.

“With his strong leadership experience, established customer and broker relationships, and deep market knowledge, I am confident that James is ideally positioned to drive Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' continued growth in the Canadian market,” McGrath said in a press release.

Earlier in his career, Gasco served as a senior underwriter at Temple Insurance, which is part of the Munich Re Group, and as a senior broker with Aon Reed Stenhouse.

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions currently operates in Canada with offices in Toronto and Vancouver, along with servicing capabilities in Montreal.
