The President and COO of The Guarantee Company of North America USA has received the Student’s Choice Outstanding Supervisor Award from a Canadian university.

The Guarantee USA’s Stephen C. Ruschak was given the award Friday by the University of Windsor for his company’s efforts in the winter 2014 work term.

“I felt that Mr. Ruschak’s leadership, encouragement and mentoring skills made him worthy of this award,” said Austin Kennedy, business administration student, The Guarantee US. “Mr. Ruschak has an inspiring attitude and his work ethic is one that deserves praise. I nominated him for this award because he demonstrated great interest and involvement in my long term growth and development. He continues to provide me with professional advice and ongoing support.”

Following every work term, students from all co-op disciplines at the University of Windsor are invited to nominate a co-op supervisor who has demonstrated exceptional qualities and has gone above and beyond the call of duty by providing an outstanding co-op learning experience.

Austin Kennedy, a University of Windsor student who worked at The Guarantee US during the winter 2014 semester, nominated Stephen C. Ruschak for the award.

“I am very honoured to be recognized by Austin and The University of Windsor. The work he has done for us has been key in the development of our analytics capabilities,” said Ruschak. “Austin has led the way in our various projects across North America, including building a portfolio credit model. We have greatly benefited as an organization from his hard work, enthusiasm and intellect." (continued.)

Nine supervisors were nominated for this award, which is given to one recipient per semester. Nominations are reviewed carefully by school administrators, who assess how each co-op supervisor made the mentorship experience for the student an exceptional one.

“Stephen C. Ruschak’s support of our Co-op Programs and students is exemplary,” said Karen Benzinger, director, student success centre, University of Windsor, “and we feel fortunate to have him participate as a University of Windsor Co-op Supervisor.”
