Vailo Insurance Services, a managing general agent (MGA) based in BC, has named Rick Feeney as its newest underwriting manager – casualty.

As underwriting manager, Feeney will focus on growing Vailo’s casualty business in British Columbia and Alberta. He will work alongside Ken Driedger, AVP of casualty at Vailo Insurance Services. Feeney will report to Vailo chief underwriting officer Bruce MacKinnon.

Feeney’s insurance industry career spans 25 years, and he has held multiple roles. He joins Vailo from Special Risk Insurance Managers, where he was a senior production underwriter – business development. Prior to that, he was a vice president at Guardian Risk Managers, where he oversaw the underwriting development of the company’s departments. He also previously held a position in business development at AXA.

“The team at Vailo is excited to welcome Rick aboard,” said MacKinnon. “[With] Rick’s excellent knowledge of the casualty space and his exceptional relationships with broker partners across BC, Vailo’s investment in the liability sector will allow us to become the go-to market for casualty business.”

“I’m excited to join Vailo and be a part of their growth, looking at the liability facilities that they have, they appear to be very robust in their offering,” stated Feeney. “I have known many members of the team there and can’t wait to hit the ground running.”
