Westland Insurance has expanded its operations in Saskatchewan with the acquisition of Insurance Matters Inc.

Insurance Matters Inc. is a family-owned brokerage that maintains offices in four locations, namely Wadena, Kelvington, Wynyard, and Invermay. It offers a wide range of insurance solutions, including residential, commercial, farm, and auto insurance.

With this acquisition, Westland can bolster its footprint in the Prairies and serve a broader client base in Saskatchewan, a press release from the brokerage said. Each of Insurance Matters’ four locations across the province will also bring Westland into a new city.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Insurance Matters to the Westland family," said Westland president and CEO Jamie Lyons. “This partnership presents a fantastic opportunity for Westland to extend its reach and offer our insurance solutions to even more communities in Saskatchewan.”

Westland has been growing its presence across Canada through recent acquisitions.

Last month, the broking giant acquired Hubbard Insurance Group in Ontario and Assurance B. Belliveau Insurance in New Brunswick. It also swooped for Andrew Agencies Ltd, which operates through 22 locations across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.

During an interview with Insurance Business, Lyons spoke of Westland’s continued growth, stating that its M&A activities are part of the company’s goal to become “Canada’s favourite broker.”

“Ultimately, what we’re trying to do is build up our business thoughtfully for the future,” he said. “We’re trying to build a business that's going be around decades from now, and we’re doing this in a shifting and evolving industry.”
