Brokers have spoken, and they have done so almost in a single voice as to how MGAs can better serve the market.

Offered five suggestions as to how MGAs could better serve brokers, respondents to the latest Insurance Business poll unanimously replied that speedier turnaround times on underwriting and broader product underwriting would be of benefit.

The other three options: ‘Focus on niche specialties;’ ‘Streamline processing;’ and ‘Nothing – they already work fine;’ received no votes.

The poll provided a quick snapshot for the overall survey being conducted for the upcoming issue of Insurance Business magazine, ‘Rating MGAs.’ The survey – which asks brokers to rank MGAs on a number of topics on a scale of 1-9 – closes on Friday, September 19.

The new poll question now available speaks to the panel discussion at this month’s NICC conference in the nation’s capital: `What will the future distribution models of insurance look like?`

Will the lines between the channels blur? How will technology, product change and evolving marketing techniques reshape the industry? Or is the insurance industry immune to the changes being wrought by innovations in technology?
